During my past week at Saint Francis Healthcare the staff on one of our nursing units had a “surprise” going away party Covid Style. The staff were lining the hallway holding handwritten signs (which I still have) and treats. The signs were many of what became known over the years as “Danisms”. These were things I would say with some frequency at different times to reinforce key messages. One sign in particular got my attention which read “If you are OK then I am OK.” That was something I would say while making rounds when a staff member would asked me “How are you doing Dan? The answer was very heartfelt in that as their CEO if they were doing OK then I was too. What hit me with great pride was that the staff remembered that key question and appreciated my asking how they were doing and trying to make things better for them. We as Leaders will accomplish great things for our organizations when we care more about our staff then some number or statistic. #healthcare #leadership #ceo
